Friday 4th April

Today is World Day for Safety & Health at Work

This year, the theme is a powerful and important one: the impacts of climate change on occupational safety and health.

Many are familiar with traditional workplace risks — trips, fires, musculoskeletal injuries — the reality is that rising global temperatures are introducing new and growing threats. Heat stress, air quality deterioration, and extreme weather events are becoming risks we can no longer ignore.

For many, thinking about safety at work isn't something you do every day — a safe and healthy workplace is rightly something we’ve come to expect. But safety isn’t static. Just as employers have a legal and moral duty to create safe environments, each of us has a personal responsibility too: to protect ourselves, avoid endangering others, and be active participants in safety and prevention measures.

This World Day is a timely reminder that some risks are less obvious, and that climate change is already reshaping what workplace health and safety looks like.

Let’s continue to build awareness, drive improvements, and protect each other — today and every day.
